So, die neuesten Gerüchte aus dem Umfeld der Wings.

1) Eric Lindros soll definitiv NICHT verpflichtet werden (zu verletzungsanfällig).
2) Keith Tkachuk soll definitiv NICHT verpflichtet werden (zu hohes Gehalt: 11 Mio. Contract !).

Mögliche Trade Szenarien für die nächsten Tage:

Alternative a) FEDOROV + DEMITRA
Fedorov's Agent befindet sich momentan doch wieder im Gespräch mit den Wings, weil bis auf die Ducks ihn wohl kein Verein für den Preis nehmen will.
Falls Fedorov also weiter für die Wings spielen sollte, bräuchte man mit der Vertragsunterschrift von Hudler keinen Center mehr. Somit könnte ein Austausch der Wings mit den Blues erfolgen. CuJo + Draftrecht nach St. Louis, Demitra nach Detroit.

Alternative b) FEDOROV + CARTER + (DUNHAM)
Ebenfalls würde in diesem Szenario Fedorov bei den Wings bleiben. Dann könnte ein möglicher Trade zwischen den Wings und den Rangers entstehen, bei dem CuJo + Hudler + evtl. Draftrecht nach New York gehen und gleichzeitig Mike Dunham und Anson Carter nach Detroit stossen. Damit hätte Detroit auch gleich einen talentierten jüngeren Goalie für die Zeit nach Hasek gefunden. Sollte Dunham kein Trade Objekt sein, würde auch ein Deal Cujo + Hudler für Carter funktionieren.

GENERELL: SOLLTE Hudler als Trade Objekt in Frage kommen, haben die Wings wieder ein Lack auf der Center Position, aber da könnte man ohne weiteres den 40-jährigen UFA Adam Oates für ein Jahr verpflichten, der sich sicherlich über noch ne Chance auf den Stanley Cup freuen wird.

Alternative c) WEIGHT + OATES (HUDLER)
In diesem Szenario würde Fedorov NICHT bei den Wings bleiben. Douggie Weight könnte für CuJo nach Detroit kommen, eine Centerposition wäre besetzt. Sollte man Hudler den Sprung in die NHL in diesem Jahr noch nicht zutrauen oder er als Trade Bait in Frage kommen, könnte man zudem den UFA Adam Oates als 2. Center-Mann unter Vertrag nehmen, womit wieder alle Centerpositionen besetzt werden.

Alternative d) FEDOROV + SAMSONOV (allerdings sehr unwahrscheinlich)
Auch hier würde Fedorov bei den Wings verlängern und mit Hudler bräuchte man keinen Center mehr und könnte sich auf einen scorenden Wing konzentrieren. Das wäre sicherlich Sergei Samsonov von Boston, der wohl abgegeben werden "darf". Ein reiner Trade CuJo für Samsonov ist allerdings äusserst unwahrscheinlich, da a) Samsonov einen höheren Marktwert hat und b) CuJo ein zu grosses Gehalt für die Bruins hat. Von sofern wäre die einzige Möglichkeit für die Wings, Samsonov zu verpflichten, indem sie ein Teil von CuJo's Gehalt "fressen" und noch Hudler oder ein Draftrecht drauflegen. Allerdings das unwahrscheinlichste Szenario, da sich die Verantwortlichen der Wings und der Bruins seit der "Lapointe"-Begebenheit nicht mehr ausstehen können.

Ich glaube stark daran, dass eine der Alternativen eintreten wird und hoffe jetzt, dass jemand Lust hat, mit mir darüber zu diskutieren...

Also... ehrlich gesagt will ich Fedorov nach dieser Geschichte nicht mehr sehen im Wings-Trikot. Er hatte seine Chance gehabt, er hat sie verspielt, und jetzt muss er sehen, wo er bleibt. Ich denke, Douggie Weight wäre ein mehr als adäquater Ersatz für Fedorov...

Allerdings wäre ein Trade mit Dunham auch nicht uninteressant für die Zeit nach Hasek (die wohl nächstes Jahr wieder eintreten wird ). Andererseits... was ist dann mit Legace ? Fragen über Fragen...

Also ich würde die zweite c), die wohl d) sein soll , sehr lecker finden. Wäre zwar, wie gesagt, die unwahrscheinlichste, aber auch die technisch gesehen, niveauvollste. Wobei diese Variante wohl eher nicht für "Physical Play" stehen dürfte...

Mir wäre Alternative b) auch sehr Recht, Carter als Gritty Forward im Detroiter Dress kann ich mir mehr als gut vorstellen. Könnte sogar klappen, wenn Fedorov nicht bleibt und man Oates signen würde (dann hätte man das Center-Problem allerdings nur um ein Jahr verschoben).

Ich bin auch nicht unbedingt heiss darauf, den Russen, der soviel Disrespect gegen sein Team vorgebracht hat, weiter im Wings Jersey zu sehen. ABER: Sollte er bleiben, wäre die Centerproblematik nicht mehr gegeben und man könnte sich um einen solide scorenden Wing kümmern, das wäre nämlich auch eine verdammt wichtige Verpflichtung, nachdem Robitaille so abgebaut hatte und jetzt weg ist und nächstes Jahr auch Brett Hull voraussichtlich aufhören wird. Douggie Weight wäre natürlich ein grosser Move, dann hätten wir einen gritty player, der auch mit Herz bei der Sache ist, da er ja in Michigan aufgewachsen ist. Und zu Dunham: Wenn CuJo für ihn getraded wird und Hasek aufhört, könnte ich mich sehr gut mit dem Goalie-Gespann Dunham/Legace abfinden für die Saison drauf.

Stimmt, Samsonov's Verpflichtung wäre nicht förderlich fürs "physical play", aber nächste Saison werden wir lack of scoring wings haben, von sofern müssen wir uns darauf vorbereiten, und am besten frühzeitig !

Ja, ich bin davon überzeugt, dass Samsonov's Marktwert höher liegt, da er mit 24 Lenzen noch sehr jung ist, aber dennoch schon über Jahre hinweg solide gescored hat in der NHL. Sehe da noch einiges Potential bei dem Jungen. Und zu Hasek: Möglich, dass auch Hasek anstatt CuJo getraded wird, das ändert allerdings nicht meine Szenarien. Einfach CuJo durch Hasek ersetzen. Was für einen CuJo-Trade spricht, ist die Tatsache, dass er gerade seine no-trade-clause aufgegeben hat.

Blues express interest in Joseph, Fedorov

Dominik Hasek announced his return to Detroit from a year of retirement on Tuesday, ushering current Red Wings goaltender Curtis Joseph to the trade block while the Blues continue to keep tabs on the market for possibilities.

Possibilities that do not currently fit into the Blues' fiscal prudence but could work in combination with other cost-cutting moves.

The Blues have spoken with Detroit about trading for Joseph, who began his career as a Blue, and they have phoned unrestricted free agent Sergei Fedorov's representative to inquire about the former league MVP. Both make or are expected to make hefty salaries.

General manager Larry Pleau must remove a payroll dollar for every dollar he adds, but he has explored various opportunities like Fedorov in case one roster move frees the cash for a signing that today looks too costly.

"We're taking a look at a lot of different things," said Pleau, without commenting on specifics. "We're trying to explore anything out there that would improve our team. What's out there that would make us better."

Joseph, 36, has a no-trade clause and is due $16 million over the two seasons remaining on his contract. Joseph's agent, Don Meehan, said the no-trade clause "is what it says it is." The Blues, a source said, are one of the few teams Joseph would consider.

Speculation in Detroit centers on the Blues offering Doug Weight, but Weight also has a no-trade clause. Reports the Blues were interested in moving Weight at the recent NHL draft were fiction, and the Blues have not contacted Weight or Weight's agent about a move.

Fedorov's agent, Pat Brisson, also represents Blues goalie Brent Johnson and defenseman Christian Laflamme. But it was a separate call from Pleau that concerned Fedorov. The 33-year-old center, two years older than Weight, turned down a couple deals worth $10 million annually with Detroit. Brisson said he and Fedorov are "narrowing the field" of teams to consider. He would not say if the Blues, who could be skittish about a multiyear deal, are in the final field.

"Sergei will get his multiyear deal," Brisson said.

Though the Blues are intent on altering the look of the team while trimming or clinging to the current payroll, ownership has indicated cash would be available for a deal too good to pass up. Also a creative combination of acquisitions and trades could fit new faces into the budget.

Decisions will not be swayed by the headline-grabbing deals made by rivals Colorado and Detroit.

"We can't start counter-punching like that," Blues president Mark Sauer said. "We have to do what's best for the franchise. We're losing a lot of money. (Pleau) has the authority and he has the plan to shape a different roster, a roster where we get younger and maybe less expensive."

The Red Wings hold an $8 million option on Hasek. The seven-time Vezina winner does not have a no-trade clause and Detroit has not said it will definitely move Joseph. Indications are that Joseph will be traded, preferably to the Eastern Conference - and that the New York Rangers top a list that includes the Blues.

"Ideally, as quick as possible I'd like to get a goaltender moved," Detroit general manager Ken Holland said. "That's easier said that done in the current financial environment. Both are very well paid, and I'm going to have to try and be creative with some other team to put something together."

Hasek, who retired after winning the 2002 Stanley Cup in his only season with Detroit, said his "desire is to play for the Detroit Red Wings. That's my goal and nothing else." Watching and reading about the playoffs kindled his interest in a return.

"I now feel that I have achieved a better balance in my life and I have more to offer the game," Hasek said. "My batteries are recharged."

While exploring moves and moves to make after moves, Pleau remains focused on re-signing restricted free agents such as Pavol Demitra and Bryce Salvador. Winger Martin Rucinsky is drifting away from a return to the Blues after the team did not exercise his option. His representative said they seriously talking with one team, and it isn't the Blues.

"It would be hard to walk into a dressing room with a pay cut or onto a team after an option was not exercised," Rucinsky's rep, Paul Kraus, said. "That's an option that right now is uncomfortable with my client."

Notes: The NHL will release teams' schedules this week, possibly as early as today. With the increase to six games against each Central Division foe - up from five - the Blues will lose several Eastern Conference trips and visitors.

Anaheim could be in the mix to sign free-agent center

DETROIT -- Red Wings General Manager Ken Holland was headed west Wednesday, beginning a working vacation in his native British Columbia, which he does every summer.

Another of the Wings could be headed west as well, with Anaheim still the most likely new home for unrestricted free agent Sergei Fedorov.

Fedorov's agent, Pat Brisson, didn't return telephone calls Wednesday, but he said Tuesday he and his client are "narrowing the field" of potential suitors. Holland also was unavailable for comment Wednesday.

The Wings' last offer to Fedorov is a four-year deal for $32 million and Holland hasn't ruled out the possibility of Fedorov returning. Fedorov's teammates haven't either, but Brisson's comments last week that Fedorov would part ways with the Wings did raise a few eyebrows.

"The big statement he made was that (leaving Detroit) was like when he defected from Russia, or something like that," goaltender Manny Legace said. "You know, he's in for a rude awakening when he leaves this town and goes somewhere and it's not hockey crazy and they don't treat you like you're a superstar. He doesn't know how great he's got it in this town -- (the fans) are phenomenal about their hockey, the ownership is top notch."

Fedorov, 33, passed on Wings offers of five years for $50 million last fall and four years for $40 million before he became a free agent July 1. Brisson responded to the latter offer with a proposal for a five-year deal worth $37.5 million, plus $18 million deferred over a 20-year period at the end of the contract. Not surprisingly, the Wings balked at that proposal.

The dwindling marketplace for high-priced stars prompted Brisson to send out a DVD package promoting Fedorov to eight teams at the beginning of free agency. He targeted the New York Rangers, Anaheim, Los Angeles, Toronto, Philadelphia, Chicago, New Jersey and Colorado. The St. Louis Blues also have inquired in recent days, and Carolina was interested, but not at Fedorov's asking price in a multiyear deal.
