Der Colorado Avalanche Hockey Club hat am heutigen Montag verkündet, dass Stürmer Peter Forsberg am kommenden Donnerstag zum ersten Mal seit seiner Fußoperation vor zweieinhalb Monaten ein Eistraining absolvieren wird.
'Peter ist bereit einen weiteren Schritt in seinem Rehabilitationsprogramm zu unternehmen', sagt Trainer Pat Karns. 'Nur sein unglaublicher Einsatzwille bei den Trockenübungen und sein Ziel noch diese Saison zu spielen, macht dies möglich. Es wäre zwar toll Peter bald wieder auf Schlittschuhen zu sehen, aber wir möchten betonen, dass es zu früh ist Spekulationen anzustellen, ob er schneller zurückkehren kann als erwartet.'
Forsberg wurde am 10. Januar am linken Fuß operiert und wurde mit einer Ausfallzeit von vier Monaten prognostiziert. Geht es nach dem Schweden kann seine Rückkehr gar nicht früh genug kommen: 'Ich bin heiß auf das Eis zurückzukehren, aber zur selben Zeit weiß ich, dass ich geduldig sein und mein Programm durchziehen muss. Ich habe zehn Monate nicht gespielt und ich kann es nicht erwarten, mit der Avalanche wieder Eishockey zu spielen.'

DENVER (AP) - Colorado Avalanche forward Peter Forsberg plans to skate for about 10 minutes on Thursday, marking his first ice time since surgery to repair tendon damage in his left foot on Jan. 10.
At the time of the surgery, Forsberg was expected to be sidelined until at least May 10, which would be the middle of the playoffs if the Avalanche advance that far.
Forsberg has said he hoped to be back for the playoffs.
Avalanche trainer Pat Karns said Forsberg has made a rapid recovery, but cautioned it was too soon to know if Forsberg will return ahead of schedule.
"Peter is now ready to move forward with the next phase of his rehab program," Karns said Monday. "Only his tremendous work ethic off the ice and determination to play again this season made this possible.
"But, while it will be great to see Peter back on skates, we do want to caution that it is too early to determine whether he will be back in action sooner than expected." Karns said Forsberg has "worked intensely to get himself into the position he is in at this time. We can't put a date on his return to game action, but we do know for certain he is well on his way to a full recovery." In a statement, Forsberg said, "I'm anxious to get back on the ice, but at the same time I know I have to be patient and not get ahead of any phase of my rehab program. I haven't played in 10 months, and I can't wait to play hockey again with the Avalanche." Forsberg, a six-time All-Star, took an unexpected leave as training camp opened last September, saying he wanted to give his battered body time to heal.
Forsberg had his spleen removed in an emergency operation last May 10, just hours after the Avalanche eliminated the Los Angeles Kings in the second round of the playoffs. In July, he had surgery on both ankles, then had additional surgery on his left ankle in his native Sweden. Doctors said the most recent injury was unrelated to the earlier ankle problems.
Forsberg flew to Denver in January with the intention of returning to the Avalanche and playing for Sweden in the Olympics, but a routine physical showed the need for more surgery.

hm, ich weiss nicht, ich glaube man sollte nicht zu viel von foppa erwarten. eigentlich sogar eher nichts, denn er war einfach zu lange weg.
aber man sollte nicht vergessen das auch hejduk noch weg ist, kasparaitis keinen bourque ersetzen kann und was wuerde iegentlich passieren wenn the lamighty joe sich verletzen wuerde?
ich sehe die avs im conference finale ausscheiden dieses jahr.
mein favorit sind, auch wenn es schmerzt, die red wings.
DENVER (AP) - Sixteen minutes. That's all the time Peter Forsberg needed to bolster the Colorado Avalanche's hopes of repeating as Stanley Cup champions.
Forsberg was expected to be out for four months after surgery to repair tendons in his left foot on Jan. 10. He returned to the ice ahead of schedule Thursday, skating with injured teammate Dan Hinote at Colorado's practice facility in Englewood while the rest of the team was preparing to play San Jose Thursday night.
"It's great to be back on the ice - it's been a long time," Forsberg said.
"There's been a lot of setbacks this year and I'm just happy to be on the ice again. I know it's not going to be tomorrow I'll be playing, but at least I was on the ice and it felt great." Forsberg skated with relative ease his first time back on the ice. He made some soft cuts at first, then skated harder after a few minutes. Forsberg later took some laps around the rink, shot some pucks at the net and traded passes with Hinote up and down the ice for several minutes before heading off.
"I skated well and it's great to be out there," Forsberg said. "I didn't expect to feel 100 percent, but everything is going like we planned and we're going in the right direction." Forsberg said he didn't feel any pain and would extend his skating sessions in the coming days. He wouldn't give a timetable for his return but hoped to be back for the playoffs, which begin April 17.
"It's too early to know. I had 10, 15 minutes out there, so it's hard to say," Forsberg said. "But everything looks good that way. It's going like we planned and I'm happy with the way it went today." Forsberg said he is eager to return after missing 10 months with a variety of injuries.

The Avalanche have been shut out 10 times this season, a team record, and are on pace to set a record for
fewest goals in a season. In its last eight games through Wednesday, Colorado had just eight goals and had been shut out three times.
Forsberg's return would give the Avalanche an immediate boost. The six-time All-Star has 169 goals and 411 assists in 466 NHL games, and 42 goals and 66 assists in 96 playoff games.
"It's been so long since I skated and played, it's going to be hard to come back," Forsberg said. "Believe me, I got out today and felt like a kid out there. But it's going to be great and I'm looking forward to it. I've got the mindset to get back out there as soon as I possibly can."

Forsberg fühlt sich zwar fit und hat auch mit der Mannschafr bereits trainiert. Er vermieder jedoch bislang jeden Körperkontakt. So lange er nicht 100%ig fit ist wird er nicht aufs Eis gehen. Auch Milan Hejduk trainierte bereits mit der Mannschaft zusammen, wird aber vorerst ebenfalls nocht nicht ins Team zurückkehren. Beide Spieler werden dringend im Offensivbereich benötigt. Zur ersten Play Off Runde sollen auch beide im wieder dabei sein.

Die Chance auf ein schnelles Comeback von Topstürmer Peter Forsberg vom Titelverteidiger Colorado Avalanche ist nach wie vor ungewiss. Der Schwede, der zuletzt wegen einer Fussverletzung drei Monate pausiert hatte, sagte am Donnerstag nach dem Training, dass sein Fuss immer noch etwas schmerze und er nicht stark genug sei, um an Trainingseinheiten mit Körperkontakt teilzunehmen.
Forsberg hat in dieser Saison noch kein einziges Spiel bestritten. Im September letzten Jahres hatte er überraschend erklärt vom Spielbetrieb auszusetzen, um seinen Körper zu schonen. Als er im Januar wieder spielen wollte, stoppte ihn die Fussverletzung, die am 10. Januar eine Operation erforderlich machte.
Trainer Bob Hartley betonte, dass das Team sehr wohl auf Forsberg Fähigkeiten angewiesen wäre, der Center aber alle Zeit der Welt hätte und nicht unter Druck gestzt wird.
