The Toronto Maple Leafs gained some offensive experience on Tuesday, acquiring forwards Travis Green and Robert Reichel along with minor-leaguer Craig Mills in exchange for defenceman Danny Markov.

Green, 30, and Reichel, 29, have signed multi-year contracts with the Leafs.

Reichel spent last season with his home-town club of Litvinov in the Czech Republic League, scoring 23 goals and adding 33 assists in 49 games. He finished third in scoring at last month's world championships with five goals and seven assists in nine games.

In 602 NHL games Reichel has 209 goals and 298 assists with 306 penalty minutes.

Green played in 69 games for Phoenix this past season recording 13 goals and 15 assists with 63 penalty minutes. The native of Castlegar, B.C., had 148 goals and 209 assists in 636 career games.

Mills, 24, played for Springfield of the American Hockey League last season, scoring eight goals and collecting five assists in 64 games.

The 24-year-old Markov, who battled a back injury last season, scored three goals and added 13 assists in 59 games for Toronto.

es stand aber nicht einfach nur in der EN, Reichel hat es auf Anfrage in einem Interview waehrend der WM gesagt:
"No, I will never play in the DEL again"
(sinngemaess, ich weiss nicht mehr den genauen Wortlaut, aber ich habe das Interview im TV gesehen)

Jetzt können wir beobachten, ob der Reichel sich in der NHL durchsetzen kann. Denn ich denke nicht, daß die Maple leafs lange zögern ihn in di Minor-Leagues abzuschieben, wenns bei ihm nicht läuft. Als Team, das nun endlich nach langem vergebenem Anrennen nun endlich mal wieder den Titel will, können sie sich einnen Fehlgriff in Bezug auf Reichel nicht leisten!
Potential dazu hat er zwar, aber ich persönlich traue es ihm einfach nicht zu. Wenn er es trotzdem schaft, dann müßte ich mich schwer täuschen!

Dem gibt es nix hinzuzufügen, ausserdem hätten wir bei seiner Rückkehr ja erst noch einen Stuhl besorgen und an die blaue Linie stellen müssen, auf dem er dann auf die Vorlagen gewartet hätte und dafür wollte Bernie bestimmt kein Geld ausgeben.

also leute, ich habe so den eindruck, ihr habt zum teil keinen ueber die eisporthalle reichenden horizont, der reichel war nicht nut der beste spieler der in der del je gespielt hat, er war der einzige top nhl spieler der in seinen tatsaechlich aktiven zeit hier gespielt hat, kein mike bullard oder chabot der irgendwann mal gut war, kein minor league player, der sich in der nhl durchsetzen muss.
die frage ist, ob er in der nhl spielen will, nicht ob er kann. wenn er tatsaechlich will, dann denke ich, dass er eine 20 tore saison hinlegt, ich tippe auf eine 26-34-60 saison.
meint ihr wirklich reichel geht rueber, wenn er so einen abgefu**ten 2wege deal bekommt?
habt ihr den teil mit "sign to multi year contracts" gelesen?

sorry, aber das geht mir gegen den senkel zum teil hier.
freut euch, das wir einen weiteren spieler in der nhl haben, der mal bei uns war.
und "den brauchen wir net" stellt sich gar nicht, der brauch naemlich eigentlich uns net.

Reichel happy to return to the NHL

Czech national team and Litvinov captain Robert Reichel is quite happy to be returning to the NHL, although those feelings don't extend to the spotlight.

Reichel has just signed a three-year deal with a one-year option with the Toronto Maple Leafs, after his rights were dealt to the club - along with forward Travis Green and defensive prospect Craig Mills - by the Phoenix Coyotes. Financial details, while not announced yet, are reported to be in the $3.4 million US a year range, with an undisclosed signing bonus and incentives that could easily see the player earn up to $4 million US in the first year.

But Reichel, a shy and unassuming forward who turns 30 by month's end, leaves all his talking to his agents, Edmonton-based Paul Kraus and Petr Sv oboda.

Reichel, taking a wait and see approach, would only say he's happy to be back: "The Stanley Cup's the goal, obviously, but it's not training camp yet."

There had been rumblings the Montreal Canadiens would make an effort to trade for Reichel in order to reunite him with former Litvinov linemate Martin Rucinsky. That would have made perfect sense as the two played on the same line during this year's world championships in Germany and not only helped their team to a three-peat, but also were voted as linemates on the first all-star team.

"I don't think they (the Canadiens) have ever been serious enough about it," said Svoboda. "In any case, they never met his financial expectations."

In seven seasons with the Calgary Flames, Reichel appeared in 425 games, scoring 153 goals and 191 assists for 344 points; he played 164 games for the New York Islanders, netting 49 goals and 91 assists for 140 points in his almost three seasons on the Island, and he also played in 13 games for the Phoenix Coyotes, getting seven goals and six assists for 13 points.

Reichel spent last season with his home-town club of Litvinov in the Czech Republic Extraleague, scoring 23 goals and adding 33 assists in 49 games. He finished third in scoring at last month's world championships with five goals and seven assists in nine games.

Reichel was the only Czech player to score on Canada's Patrick Roy in the famed shootout at the 1998 Nagano Olympic Games, thus sending the Czechs to the gold medal game while Canada went on to lose the bronze medal game to Finland.

He's been known as the ultimate team player. When asked by then-coach of the Czech squad, Ivan Hlinka, whether he would consider relinquishing his Czech national team captaincy for Vladimir Ruzicka for the Nagano Olympics, Reichel didn't hesitate with his agreement, acknowledging the respect Ruzicka has commanded among the Czech stars in general and with Jaromir Jagr in particular.

Um das Ganze mal ein bisschen abzukürzen:
Reichel war und ist leider viel zu gut für die DEL, deswegen spielt er auch nun wieder in der NHL - vielleicht wird er ja noch mal ein Thema, wenn er Mitte 30 ist und seinen Zenit überschritten hat

und selbst dann wird er immer noch eines sein: nämlich zu teuer.
