DALLAS (AP) -- Dallas Stars right wing Jere Lehtinen left the season opener against Anaheim in the second period Wednesday night because of a shoulder injury sustained earlier in the game.
Lehtinen was hurt in a collision with Mighty Ducks forward Jason Krog. He returned for two shifts in the second period, then went to the locker room for good with Dallas leading 3-1.
Lehtinen won the Selke Award for being the league's top defensive forward for a third time last season. His offense was pretty good, too, though as he scored a career-high 31 goals and his plus-39 rating was fourth in the league. He signed a four-year contract extension last month.

PHILADELPHIA (Ticker) - Philadelphia Flyers left wing John LeClair has suffered his third significant injury in four years, a broken foot that could sideline him for the first month of the season.
LeClair sustained the injury during the team's recent four-day training camp day in West Point, New York, taking a puck off his foot. X-Rays at the U.S. Military Academy showed nothing, but LeClair continued to experience discomfort.
On Wednesday, the team took another X-ray, which revealed a fractured fifth metatarsal on the outside of the foot. Team physician Dr. Peter DeLuca said LeClair will miss up to four weeks.
"There's no rehab with this injury," DeLuca said. "It's just a matter of when he's comfortable and how long it takes to heal."
LeClair suffered a shoulder injury last season and played just 35 games, totaling 18 goals and 10 assists. Before playing all 82 games in 2001-02, he appeared in only 16 contests in 2000-01 due to a disc problem in his back.
Prior to 2000-01, the 34-year-old LeClair had not missed more than 10 games in a season. From 1995-96 to 1997-98, he played every game and scored at least 50 goals in each campaign.
The Flyers open the season Thursday against the Buffalo Sabres.
