Milan's Rob Cowie suspected of doping

The 35-year old former Los Angeles Kings was tested positive for absorbing two components of nandrolone.

Cowie, 35, is mostly famous in Europe for his 4-year stand with the DEL's Eisbaren Berlin.
After a year in Finland with Jokerit Helsinki (on loan from EV Zug of Switzerland), Cowie joined the Milano Vipers as part of the club's failed effort to conquer the Continental Cup on its home ice in January 2003.
Cowie then was one of the goal-scorers in the shootout which occurred during game 6 of the Italian league finals, and allowed Milan to retain its national title against Asiago.

Cowie is a native of Willowdale, Ontario, but also hails from British citizenship.
He was controlled after a Serie A game and found guilty of displaying high rates of norandrosterone and noretiocolanone, two chemical components which are associated with nandrolone abuse.

A second test has already been performed and confirmed the presence of those two illicit products inside Cowie's body.

No comment has yet come from Mister Cowie's club.

(mm) Der 35-jährige Verteidiger Robert Cowie (Ex Zug und La Chaux-de-Fonds), zuletzt beim italienischen Meister Milano Vipers unter Vertrag, wurde gemäss "Solohockey" des Dopings überführt. Bei einer Kontrolle fand man in beiden Proben einen zu hohen Wert des anabolen Steroid Nandrolon vor. Damit riskiert der Kanadier eine längere, international gültige Sperre.
