There won't be any holdouts this time around for Jarome Iginla.
The Calgary Flames signed the restricted free agent to a two-year, $13 million deal, reports ESPN The Magazine's E.J. Hradek.
The team will announce the signing at a news conference today at 3:30 p.m. ET.
Iginla, 25, won the Pearson Award last year as league MVP by a vote of the players, with 52 goals, 44 assists, and was the NHL's only plus-50 goal scorer in 2001-02.
Iginla's base salary for this upcoming season will be $5.5 million, and $7 million for 2003-04. He received a $500,000 signing bonus, and other incentives for major awards that could raise the contract's overall amount.
The signing ends the threat of a likely Iginla holdout, which would have been the second of his career after missing the start of camp three seasons ago.
"I don't think I could (attend camp without a contract),'' Iginla told the Canadian Press last month.
The financial landscape has surely changed for Iginla.
In 1999, the last time his contract expired, he was the team's fourth leading scorer (51 points) and was making $850,000 with bonuses. Both sides came to terms on a three-year, $5 million contract three games into the season.
After making $1.7 million last season, Iginla was reportedly seeking $7.5 million a year.
The Flames open camp Sept. 14 in Banff, Alberta.
