DENVER (AP) - Unlike his rival Dominik Hasek in Detroit, Colorado Avalanche goalie Patrick Roy is sure about what he wants to do next season.
Hasek, who won the Stanley Cup for the first time this year, is debating whether to retire. Roy, meanwhile, said he plans to play out the remaining two years on his contract and then keep on going.
"I would love to finish the time that I have left on my contract, and I would love to play after that," said Roy, in Toronto as part of the NHL awards presentations last week.
Each year of Roy's contract is worth $8.5 million, and he has a no-trade clause.
"I still love to play the game, and I feel I had the best year of my career this year," said Roy, 36. "I feel like I can play a few more years at the level I want."
Teammates are eager to hold onto Roy. He led the Avalanche to the fewest goals allowed in the NHL in a conference with better offensive teams than in the East.
"Having Patty around for as long as he wants to play would be a great thing. I hope he wants to play another five years, at least," defenseman Rob Blake said. "That's how much I have left on my contract, so I'd love to play in front of him that many years."
Roy said he plans to have a relaxing summer spending time with his wife and three children and playing a lot of golf.

Roy will seinen Vertrag komplett erfüllen und noch 2 Jahre spielen. Rob Blake hätte es am liebsten wenn Roy noch 5 Jahre spielt, da sein Vertrag noch so lange geht *g*.
