Bei dem Spiel schlafen ja einem die Füße ein. Kaum ein gescheiter Check der Flyers. Die Rangers hatten wenigstens zwei drei gute Checks. Naja mal schauen, 20 Min. sind es ja noch.
Amonte increases point-scoring streak to eight games in 2-1 Win
New York, NY – Marcus Ragnarsson scored 1:01 into overtime as the Philadelphia Flyers defeated the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden, 2-1.
Ragnarsson took a feed from behind the net by Tony Amonte and redirected the puck in for his second goal of the season.
Amonte increased his point-scoring streak to eight games, and his third period goal increased his goal-scoring streak to four games.
Trailing 1-0, Philadelphia wasted no time in tying the game in the third period. After Sami Kapanen drew a slashing penalty 30 seconds in, Amonte took a feed from Joni Pitkanen and blasted a slap shot past Mike Dunham to the top-right corner of the net 49 seconds in.
The Rangers got on the board first with a goal by defenseman Vladimir Malakhov, his first of the season. Malakhov took a cross-ice feed from Martin Rucinsky and blasted a slap shot past Jeff Hackett at 13:49.
Philadelphia sustained pressure in the New York zone for much of the second period during even strength play, but was unable to score. Kapanen had a look at the net from the slot, but his wrist shot sailed wide about midway though.
The Flyers’ penalty killing, along with Hackett, kept it a 1-0 game. Ranked second in the league coming into the game, Phialdelphia killed off minor penalties to Todd Fedoruk and Michal Handzus.
Hackett, getting his first start since October 30 in New Jersey, made a great save on Chris Simon as he quickly shifted from his right to his left to stop the attempt in the second period. Moments later, he stopped Mark Messier on the doorstep as well.
Flyers forward Simon Gagne, who was slashed in the leg in the first period, did not return due to a strained left hamstring. Defenseman Eric Desjardins missed his second consecutive game with back spasms. For New York, center Eric Lindros returned after missing seven games with a sprained chest and registered an assist on New York’s goal.
The teams will next meet on January 22, again in New York. The Rangers make their first visit to Philadelphia on Saturday, February 14.
